Born and raised in Washington, Indiana, a small town in the Midwestern United States, Sara graduated from Indiana University with degrees in journalism and psychology. For the next 13 years she worked in PR for a variety of organisations, before moving to London to marry her British sweetheart. In London she became a part time PR consultant, freelance writer and student, graduating from Goldsmiths College with distinction in 2006 with a Master's degree in creative and life writing.

Sara now works as a freelance writer and editor for Working Partners, a London-based company creating series fiction for children. Her publication credits include stories in Spider and Pockets children's magazines. The Boomerang Smile, her story that appeared in Pockets, was selected by The Institute of Children's Literature for its Best of the Children's Market publication. She also wrote on assignment for U.S. Kids and Indianapolis Monthly magazines. Her articles on children's fiction have appeared Children's Writers' and Illustrators' Market book and The Craft & Business of Writing.

Sara also endeavours to help others achieve their creative aspirations. She taught an intensive public relations writing course at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, for nearly two years. For more than three years, she served as the volunteer regional advisor for the Indiana chapter of the Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). She currently volunteers for SCBWI-British Isles, hosting bi-monthly events for writers interested in children's literature.

She has served as editor on two anthologies: Goldfish, the first anthology of Goldsmiths College's creative and life writing programme, and Undiscovered Voices, a collection of writing from unpublished SCBWI members in the UK. An extract of the dystopian novel for young adults DARK PARTIES was included in Undiscovered Voices, selected from more than 240 submissions. The full manuscript received much attention from UK publishers and World English rights were snapped up by Little, Brown for their prestigious YA list. DARK PARTIES will be published in the US in Fall 2010 or Spring 2011. Sara is meanwhile working on her next book, also for young adults.

Sara lives in London with her husband.
