Karen was raised in Chesterfield, Derbyshire with her two younger sisters. She studied English Literature at the University of Lancaster and has worked as an editor in the book publishing industry for 17 years. She has been writing children's books since her first novel, Starring Me As Third Donkey, was published by Puffin in 2005. She has had novels, short stories and non-fiction published in the children's book market and is currently working on her first YA novel. Her day job is as Editorial Development Manager at Working Partners. She blogs regularly at her website www.karen-ball.com and contributes to An Awfully Big Blog Adventure, the collective blog of the Scattered Authors Society.
