Andrew Driver is a translator of Japanese. He was born in Oxford, England, in 1954, and was educated at Reading School in Berkshire. He then obtained a B.A. in German Language & Literature from Liverpool University as well as a diploma in Comparative Philology from Oxford University. He moved to Japan and taught English at both the Higashi Fukuoka Senior High School, and the Fukui Institute of Technology. In 1981 he began writing documentary scripts for International Motion Picture Co., Tokyo, and later went on to be Précis writer for stockbroker W.I. Carr & Sons (Tokyo Office). In 1990 he became a full-time translator for Japan Translation Center, Ltd. in Tokyo, and later on a freelance translator of Japanese in the UK. He is now director of the Japanese translation company, Koishi-Driver Ltd and a member of the Society of Authors and the Translators' Association. He is married with one daughter.
